Scientific and Innovation Objectives
Big Data Lifecycle Management: Address the big data lifecycle, promoting data interoperability, open data exchange standards, reusability and explainability of AI models via transfer learning and, through these, business value generation.
Establishment of a Benchmarking Mechanism: Establish a benchmarking mechanism through the design of a Multi-Objectives Optimisation Solver for Causal AI to derive cause-and-effect relationships,, targeting end-goals related to accuracy, explainability, low-latency, scalability, energy-efficiency, reusability, data efficiency and AI models robustness, productivity and sustainability, based on a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are relevant to the Civilian and Security Sector.
Technical Objectives
Development of Scalable Big Data Services for Efficient Sensor Data Processing: Develop and deliver services able to sense, harvest, clean, harmonise and process huge amounts of sensorial data from distributed IoT devices and put the human-in-the-loop to reduce the pre-processing overhead via scalable big data processing modalities.
Development of Advanced AI Services for Precise Analytics and Justified Decision Making: Develop and deliver AI services for real-time object segmentation, detection and classification, behavioural pattern mining, correlations with space, time and context, and justified predictions on objects, patterns and events with XAI methods to eliminate false positives and reduce the analysis load performed by human operators.
Integration of Components and Tools: Integrate appropriate components, tools, Big Data / IoT, AI and XAI models, and human-in-the-loop capabilities into the self-managing CYGNUS Platform, to deliver a holistic and interoperable solution for civilian and security applications.
Business Objectives
Validation of CYGNUS Platform: Prove the applicability, effectiveness and value of the CYGNUS Platform in civilian applications with high probability true positive results from AI models with human-in-the-loop. Validate the CYGNUS artefacts, methodologies and services under pragmatic conditions using drones and IoT devices.
Dissemination of CYGNUS Results: Ensure wide communication and scientific dissemination of CYGNUS results to the research and academic communities in Cyprus and Europe. Promote clustering activities amongst stakeholders in Civilian and National Security domains.
Accelerating Digitization and AI Adoption: Accelerate digitization, AI adoption and innovation potential in the Cyprus Civilian Protection sector, through the efficient exploitation and business planning of the CYGNUS concepts and tools.
